OUR CHILDREN DESERVES TO BE RESPECTED - Adaramola

 

A Federal House of Representative aspirant for Ekiti  Central Federal Constituency I under the Social Democratic Party  (SDP)Hon Toba Adaramola has urged parents and guardians to respect the personalities of their children, he stated this  during an interaction with some parents in Igede Ekiti on how to help our children overcome the bad influence of socialisation.

 Adaramola said ''with the advent of technology and media influence one cannot but come to the conclusion that we need to revive our cultural heritage on dressing , respect for others and the fear of God''.

He urged parents and guardians to shun abuses and teach them our ethos. ''We can rebuke them but let it be in love. Enough of using our children as slaves , let us stop inflicting injuries on them as a punitive measure.

Because of our tomorrow ,Adaramola admonished parents to teach them how to love others and fear God . He concluded by asking  children to shun peer influence and face their studies so that we can have a sane society again.

The leading aspirant of House of Representatives *Otunba Deji Adeosun* has assured the people of Ado Ifelodun Irepodun federal constituency of good representation at the Federal House of Representatives.

*Adeosun* made this known on Thursday while addressing the people reasonable reasons  to contest for House of Representatives to represent the people of Ado Ifelodun Irepodun  federal constituency under the umbrella of *People’s Democratic Party.*

In his  address made available to newsmen, *Adeosun* explained that the time for youths to take over mantle of leadership is now, adding that he is set to change the current narrative in the Constituency.

Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Ekiti state, Chief Segun Oni has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Usman Baba to urgently wade in to halt the reprehensible activities of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi which he said are capable of causing crisis of an unimaginable magnitude.

The call came yesterday following a pandemonium that erupted in Ado-Ekiti as one of the campaign buses belonging to Otunba Ladi Owolabi, the deputy governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was allegedly snatched at gun point by suspected thugs hired by the state Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. 

The bus was said to have been driven straight to the government house, on the orders of the governor.

The leader of the gang, one Apase, was said to have coordinated the dastardly act.

Meanwhile, the SDP has reported the matter to the state Police Command.

This was contained in a statement issued by the campaign office of the SDP Governorship candidate, Chief Segun Oni in Ado-Ekiti and made available to journalists.

The Secretary General of the SDP campaign office, Dr. Dare Ojo confirmed that an official report has been made to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adesina Moronkeji.

Speaking with journalists yesterday, Owolabi vowed never to succumb to the unwarranted intimidation by the ruling APC which he said has lost touch with the people of the state and afraid of facing the electorate, come June 18.

Owolabi is believed to enjoy massive support of the people of Ado-Ekiti, his hometown, which has the largest number of voters in the state.

According to Owolabi, this is the reason the governor and his ruling party are insistent on preventing SDP from campaigning in the state capital.

"Fayemi doesn't want me to campaign at all. 

But the fact is that he cannot stop me. None of them can stop me.

If they like, let them keep the bus, many more will hit the roads" Owolabi said.

Recall that there have been reported cases of violent attacks on the campaign train of Oni, some of which have been bloody.

Oni, in a telephone interview with journalists yesterday lamented the " uncanny aggression and unhidden frustrations of the APC" which he said is now growing wings every hour of every day.

"In politics, what matters most is the people. The moment you lose the people, you have lost relevance and you have lost their votes " Oni said.

What is happening now, the former governor said is an embarrassment to all Ekiti people, home and abroad as well as democracy lovers across the country.

Oni has however charged the Federal Government, all the Security Agencies as well as the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to pay serious attention to the ongoing deplorable actions of both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state in their bid to thwart the wishes of Ekiti people in the impending governorship election.

President Buhari, according to Oni, ought to be interested  in leaving at least one legacy  which is respect for the rule of law and enthroning a culture of violent free, fair and transparent democratic election in the country, using the forthcoming election in Ekiti as a template. 

The former governor also appealed to the Independent Electoral Commission headed by Professor Mahmood Yakubu to rise to its calling in order to ensure that the interest of Ekiti people is guarded jealously to forestall a break down of peace in the state and the rest of the country.

SEGUN ONI HAS THE CAPACITY TO MAKE EKITI GREAT AGAIN…..Toba Adaramola

 

The former Chairman of ALGON in Ekiti State and now an aspirant for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I House of Representatives, Hon Toba Adaramola has declared that Ekiti State stands to benefit lots of development if Asiwaju Segun Oni is given another opportunity to govern the state. He’s done it before in his brief stint as governor and those works are testaments to the fact that he has the interest of Ekiti at heart and he is passionate about transforming and position Ekiti state on the path of economic viability, social security and sustainable development.

“We need to collectively put an abrupt end to ‘godfatherism’ in the political system of our state before it is institutionalised and deeply rooted. The state must be administered by a goal-getter, independent minded and determined person’’. This we can collectively achieve by voting for the only person who has shown capacity, capability and core values to bring unprecedented development to Ekiti- this can only be made possible through the emergence of Engineer Segun Oni as the governor of the state. Let’s saddle him with the responsibilities of transforming the land of honour and the fountain of knowledge and I am confident he will not let Ekiti down. 

The House of Representatives aspirant further stressed that the forthcoming election will be unusual because it will spring pleasant surprises as people will vote for personalities like Asiwaju Segun Oni and other credible contestants. Ekiti people are wiser and the level of awareness is so high now with the consciousness and hunger of having a trustworthy leader at the helm of affairs in the state.

Bayo Aduloju canvass for Chief Segun Oni & Otunba Ladi Owolabi at SDP rally Igede Ekiti, says Ekiti will witness a genuine transformation.

It was like a carnival in Igede Ekiti headquarters of Irepodun/Ifelodun local government yesterday as the Bayo Aduloju Campaign Organisation (BACO) was warmly received into the community with drums and funfair in continuation of their tour to campaign for the SDP flag bearer Chief Segun Oni.

The team was led by Bayo Aduloju, a leading SDP  aspirant for the House of Representatives in Ekiti Central FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY 1. In his team were the campaign Director-General, Hon. Famuyibo Oluwasegun, and other notable leaders from Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun local governments. 

He implored, the people to come out en masse on June 18 to support and vote for Chief Segun Oni to rescue Ekiti and witness the true transformation. He said, "Segun is the real deal for the total transformation of Ekiti land". The DG,  Hon. Famuyibo Oluwasegun in support admonished the youth and women wing who are yet to collect their permanent voter's card from INEC to do so as a matter of urgency to be able to elect their choice, CSO on June 18. 

He used the opportunity to put laughter on the faces of some Widows and the aged from the 3 wards in Igede by supporting them with relief materials  in continuation of the Bayo Aduloju Foundation (BAF) Widows and Aged Empowerment program wish he flagged up in his hometown Are-Ekiti on Sunday, 8th May 2022

2022 Ekiti workers, pensioners salary budget suffer, as Fayemi diverts funds for APC guber polls, presidential aspiration.

 

The Segun Oni Campaign Organisation (SOCO) has accused the governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, of diverting money earmarked for the payment of workers’ salary and pensioners’ gratuity to funding of the candidacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next month governorship election in the state.

The governor was also alleged to have been funding his presidential bid basically from the allocation made for pensioners in the 2022 budget.
This was revealed in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday by the Director of Media and Publicity of SOCO, Mr. Jackson Adebayo.
According to the organisation, the governor, who earmarked the sum of 1 billion for the payment of gratuity in the budget, had not pay “a dime since January this year,” while he continued to hire airplane at the rate of N18 million per charter for three times “amounting to N240 million in a week.”
SOCO stressed that the governor had, in the last two weeks, directed that a sum of N500 million be taken from the deduction from the workers’ salary for mobilisation for the campaign of the APC candidate, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, as well as to buy voter’s cards at the rate of N20,000 per person, while those who were saddled with the responsibility of buying the cards were to retain N5,000 from the amount to be given to each seller.
The statement went further to reveal that an amount of N102 million was also taken from the money to pay for the APC presidential nomination form obtained by the governor last week and the logistics that accompanied the exercise.
SOCO, therefore, appealed to well-meaning sons and daughters of Ekiti State, particularly the elder statesmen, to prevail on the governor “to have mercy on the suffering workers and pensioners.”
It added that “the already worsened financial status of the state is currently receiving a bashing that may push it to the precipice.”

A pro-Segun Oni group, the Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB), has explained reasons the Ekiti State governor, Dr John Kayode Fayemi, hurriedly announced some packages for the state's workers two days to the May Day celebration.

Fayemi, who, again, missed this year's  celebration to avoid being embarrassed by the workers who are disenchanted by the unfulfilled promises to them, announced the package to dissuade the workers who had made up their minds to go with the leading opposition candidate, Asiwaju Oni.

The EBBB had earlier predicted that the governor, who will complete his second term in October, would not show up for the programme.

He was, however, represented by his deputy.

The workers, who were poised for a showdown with the government, had planned to embarrass Fayemi, notwithstanding the last-minute carrots dangled to placate them, as they saw the development as rather too late and an effort in futility to convince them to support and vote for his anointed All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji.

Fayemi had, last Friday, taken a shaky step to appeal to the workers not to support the former governor and Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Oni who workers believe will rescue them from poverty by announcing to give financial backing to the 2017 and 2018 promotions, pay one year leave bonus out of the four years owed and probably pay part of the unpaid salaries. 

According to a press statement issued by the EBBB spokesman, Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday,  the State Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti, venue of the ceremony, was almost empty, as very few workers showed up.

"The 2021 May Day celebration was cancelled at the last minute, when it became obvious that the labour leaders couldn't convince the workers to back down their plan to embarrass the governor. 

"The workers were angry over the unfulfilled promises of Governor Fayemi to them since he assumed office in October 2018, querying the sense in filing out in a parade to salute the government.

"Sensing that the situation had remained the same, the workers had asked their leaders who tried to persuade them to come to Pavilion salient questions like: 'What are we to celebrate? Is it poverty, hunger, unfulfilled promises, unpaid salaries, unpaid four-year leave bonuses, promotion without financial backing or are you, our leaders, saying we should parade to salute this government for denying us our benefits? If we do that, we are bunch of morons."

Adelusi said the workers, who had accused their leaders of collaborating with the government to impoverish them, had vowed to use their voter's cards to elect Asiwaju Oni as their governor, pledging to defend their votes and to reject vote-buying.

Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the coming governorship election in Ekiti State, *Ashiwaju Segun Oni,* has said that he shares the pains of the state work force as they celebrate this year’s Workers Day “in near penury.”

Oni, in a May Day message contained in a statement signed by the *Director of Media and Publicity of the Segun Oni Campaign Organisation (SOCO), Mr Jackson Adebayo,* lamented the deplorable condition of workers in the state, maintaining that the situation had never been this bad.

He, however, charged the workers never to lose hope, promising that better days awaited them if they would allow him to “hold power in trust” for them by voting him as the next governor of the state in June.

*“I feel what you are passing through. I know this is an occasion that should naturally call for celebration, but for the fact that it is being celebrated in near penury by most of you. I believe that the sweat of the labourer should not be allowed to dry before he/she gets paid."*

“But this is the situation that bad governance has landed us in our dear state. There is no longer respect for the dignity of labour. Today, I am appealing to you not to lose hope. I am promising you new days ahead, if I am elected your governor. I urge you to come out enmass to vote for me.

“I am aware that workers in the state planned to shun the usual parade marking the day. We won’t allow you to be pushed to the wall to the extent of contemplating such, once we assume office.

“As a matter of fact, the anguish and distrust between the labour and the current administration that led to the cancellation of the May Day celebration in the state last year and which has persisted as well as grown worse will soon become a thing of the past. 

“All that is required for workers in Ekiti State to put paid to lack of payment of salaries as and when due, owing of leave bonuses and other allowances, lack of fund backing for promotions as well as enormous backlog of pension and gratuities is to give your power to me in trust. You know me; we have travelled this route together before. I will never disappoint you.

*“As I look on you with pity at this difficult period, I wish you long life and strength to endure the period, so that when next we are celebrating another of this day, it will be in comfort and happiness, God willing,”*  Oni said.

The former governor added that the worker should not allow themselves to be “intimidated by anybody,” advising that they should use the power of their votes to send home their “oppressors” come June.

He said he had entered into a pact with God that rather than retrench any worker when he returned to office as governor, he would strive to expand the economic base of the state so that more workers would be employed into the workforce.

*Oni,* who maintained that it was callous for any government to withhold the deductions from workers’ salaries, also promised that his government would ensure that their cooperative groups would be strengthened to create more finance avenues for them.
