Rented driver thugs shoot 6 SDP members at Segun Oni's rally ...As communities vow to vote SDP candidate

Some thugs who are members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) wearing the All Progressive Congress (APC) vests and loaded in five buses belonging to the APC, shooting gun sporadically,

on Saturday, stormed the campaign rally venues of the Social Democratic Party(SDP) in Itaji Ekiti and Oye Ekiti all in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

In a press statement issued by Mr Jackson Adebayo, the Director of Media and Publicity of Segun Oni Campaign Organisation (SOCO) and made available to the journalists in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, the thugs allegedly sent by Mr Rotimi Olanbiwoninu a-k-a Mentilo, the Ekiti State Chairman of RTEAN began to shoot as the SDP governorship candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni was addressing SDP members and supporters at Itaji town.

According to Adebayo, three SDP members were shot and terribly wounded in Itaji but luck ran out for one of the RTEAN thugs who missed the bus and was arrested by party supporters who handed him over to the police.

The SOCO Spokesman said that it took the mobile police and some soldiers on patrol about 30 minutes to bring the situation under control.

The unlucky thug confessed that they were sent by Mentilo and that he( Mentilo) was working for the Biodun Oyebamiji Campaign Organisation.

At Oye, said Adebayo, the RTEAN drivers allegedly shot three members of the SDP who were waiting for the arrival of Oni who was due to address party supporters in the town, adding that the thugs entered their buses and fled on seeing the mobile policemen that were following the campaign convoy of the SDP and the soldiers that were on patrol.

Notwithstanding the hullabaloo , at Itaji and Oye, the people trooped out enmass to welcome Oni, promising to vote for him, adding that the APC thugs cannot intimidate or prevent them from coming out to vote on the election day.

The SDP candidate was told to go and sleep as nothing can change their support and love for him.

The injured SDP members have been taken to the hospital while the matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police.

Ekiti Decides 2022: Chief Segun Oni's Victory is not negotiable - Olabayo Aduloju

A Social Democratic Party (SDP) aspirant in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I, Comrade Aduloju Olabayo Babatunde also known as Adubabs has seeked the electorates to vote for Chief Segun Oni and Otunba Ladi Owolabi the SDP gubernatorial candidate and deputy in the coming June 18 election, he said Segun Oni's victory is not negotiable.

Aduloju Olabayo who hails from Are - Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun local government vying to represent Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I (Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun Local govt) at the green chambers said this while addressing party faithfuls during his tour and neighborhood campaign in his constituency last weekend.

He commends the efforts that have been put in places by the leaders and stakeholders of the party in the area to ensure the victory of Chief Segun Oni in the upcoming governorship election and implore the electorates to be steadfast in their determination to rescue Ekiti from this pestilents in Oke Ayoba by refusing to sell their future through vote buying and selling as no amount paid can cater for their future lost in the process.

Adubabs submitted that the emergency of Chief Segun Oni as the flag bearer of Social Democratic Party in Ekiti has rekindled the hope of Ekiti people in their quest to rescue our dear state from the hopelessness being witnessed as a result of the corrupt visionless and deceptive system of

administration employed by the APC led government in the state.

He pointed their attention to the exponential growth of unemployment among the youths and its adverse effect on the security of life and properties in the state citing the collapsed security condition of the state as alarming. He condemned the deplorable situation of our road networks in the state, most especially those connecting the state capital  to other town that has turned to death traps and berate the sitting government for shying away from their responsibilities.

According to the MHR hopeful, an average Ekiti person can attest to the credibility, transparency and capabilities of Chief Segun Oni, which has been tested during his aborted tenure in 2010. Oni has painstakingly attended to workers welfarism and promt payment of salaries and entitlements which has resulted to increase in gross productivity across board and visible transformation of the state. And they have made up their minds that this can be done again by returning Oni back to the government house at this crucial time when Ekiti is yearning for restoration of purposeful leadership and good governance.

He charged Ekiti people to come out in a large numbers on June 18 to vote and protect their votes for Chief Segun Oni so that Ekiti state can regain its freedom and the future of our children be re-guaranteed and a secured, better Ekiti be assured.
